GroupRadar ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: Email address, display name, and password when you create an account.
- Profile Information: Optional profile photo.
- Group Information: Group names you create and join.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data: GPS coordinates, WiFi access point data, and Bluetooth proximity data, used only when you enable location sharing. WiFi and Bluetooth signals are processed on your device to improve location accuracy indoors; they are not transmitted as a separate data stream.
- Device Information: Device type and operating system version.
- Advertising Identifier: For users on the free plan, the Google Advertising ID (AAID) is used by our advertising partner to serve ads.
Information from Third Parties
- Push Notifications: Push notification tokens from Google (FCM) / Apple (APNs).
Advertising
GroupRadar is free to use and is supported by ads for users on the free plan.
- We use Google AdMob to display advertising.
- AdMob may collect and process your device's Advertising ID and ad-interaction data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
- You can reset or limit your Advertising ID at any time in your device's settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
- Subscribing to any paid plan (PREMIUM or PRO) removes all ads and stops the associated advertising data collection.
Purchases and Subscriptions
- In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple In-App Purchase (iOS). We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- We retain a record of your subscription status (plan tier, status, renewal date) to provide paid features.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide real-time location sharing with your group members
- Enable group creation, management, and membership
- Send push notifications about group activity
- Improve and optimize the app experience
- Ensure security and prevent fraud
- Comply with legal obligations
End-to-End Encryption
Important: GroupRadar uses end-to-end encryption (E2E) for all location data and messages.
- Your location coordinates are encrypted on your device before being sent to our servers
- We cannot read or access your actual location data
- Only members of your group with the encryption key can decrypt your location
- Our servers only relay encrypted data
This means:
- We operate on a "zero-knowledge" basis regarding your location
- Even if our servers were compromised, your location history would remain encrypted
- We cannot provide your location data to any third party
Information Sharing
We do NOT sell your personal information.
We may share information only in these cases:
- With Group Members: Your encrypted location is shared with members of groups you join.
- Service Providers: We use cloud infrastructure providers who may process data on our behalf.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental request.
- Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Location Data: Encrypted location data is automatically deleted based on your settings:
- None (no history stored)
- 24 hours
- 7 days
- 30 days
- Messages: Encrypted messages can be auto-deleted based on your settings.
- Deleted Accounts: All data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data.
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data.
- Location Sharing: Enable or disable location sharing at any time.
- Push Notifications: Opt out of push notifications via device settings.

Data Security
We implement security measures including:
- End-to-end encryption (AES-256-GCM) for all location data and messages
- Secure HTTPS/TLS connections for all data transmission

- Rate limiting to prevent abuse
Children's Privacy
GroupRadar is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

Platform-Specific Disclosures
Apple App Store
